Conversation with Kathleen Morris and Alexis Goodin: Planning the Burrows Gallery of American Decorative Arts

Kathleen Morris, curator of decorative arts, and Alexis Goodin, curatorial research associate, give a behind-the-scenes glimpse into planning the Henry Morris and Elizabeth H. Burrows Gallery of American decorative arts, an installation over six years in the making. Their conversation will highlight discoveries made while researching silver, furniture, and other objects in the Clark collection, and they will address why they chose to explore particular themes when grouping objects together for display. Their talk will give insight into curatorial, aesthetic, and practical aspects of planning such an installation, including the process of polishing silver, determining the floor plan of the galleries, choosing paint colors for the cases and walls, and more.
