Grad Art

International Study Trip

See works of art and architecture on site and in the original.

The International Study Trip, required of all first-year students in the Program, is unique among graduate art history programs.  Students travel as a group for approximately three weeks, accompanied by the Program Director and other faculty. The Program covers the cost of travel, accommodation, admission, and additional expenses.

In 2012 and 2013, the Program visited Italy, Rome, Naples, Copenhagen, and Stockholm. The January 2014 trip focused on England and France, with visits to London, Salisbury, Bath, Cambridge, Lincoln, and Paris. China was the destination in 2015, in March instead of January. The class of 2017 traveled to Vienna and Paris in January of 2016. Rome and Sicily were visited in January of 2017, and in 2018, Honolulu and Australia. Destinations in 2019 included  Japan, China, and Taiwan.
