ARTH 563: Contemporary Curatorial Workshop (CCW)

A seminar for graduate art history students to engage in discourse around contemporary curatorial practice with professionals in the field. Guest curators discuss their work and methodology, usually presenting a major recent exhibition as a case study for discussion (these presentations are open to the larger community). Under the direction of the chair(s)—at present, Dan Byers, Senior Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at the Williams College Museum of Art—students participate in discussions, respond to readings, host local and visiting curators, travel to visit exhibitions regionally as the schedule allows, and explore key topics in modern and contemporary art and curatorial practice.

Note: Enrollment in CCW for two consecutive semesters is equivalent to one course credit applied toward the degree.
